PEANUTS PARTY - KIDS BIRTHDAY DESIGN

This little princess just happens to be my next door neighbor. I’ve been spending lots of time with Ava, teaching her private art classes alongside her BFF Maddie, who also happens to live across the street. Having these darlings in the Emerald Flamingo Studio has been a true joy, so it came as no surprise when Ava’s mom asked me if I could help with her 4-year-old birthday party that I jumped right into designer mode with Project: Peanuts Party!

Balloons have made quite a comeback… but in a seriously grand fashion, like these installations we designed for both the entrance and backyard photo booth (embellished with rose gold streamers, too!) Crafted with hundreds of balloons in various sizes and pastel colors, the arches were created by draping a backdrop of chiffon fabric with the wired balloon sculptures attached…very carefully!

When we started planning Ava’s party, I was delighted to find out that she loved the classic cartoon characters, The Peanuts by Charles Shultz. I started pinteresting and planning on how to incorporate these fun-loving and iconic characters into the design, especially within the SWEETS station. Cake pops, marshmallow pops, oreo pops, chocolate covered pretzels, sprinkled cups with homemade cookies, Peanuts candy bars, popcorn, plus a dog bone cake. We made all the sweets — except for that FABULOUS 4th birthday cake — created by my good friend and cake connoisseur, Elaine Ardizzone of Sweet Cheeks Baking Co. We also designed the cake pop stands wrapping them up in newspaper comics and crafting Peanuts signage. That incredible yellow ferris wheel display stand and carousel is from another great industry friend, Valerie McCartney from Enticing Tables.

It wouldn’t be a Peanuts Party without Lucy’s lemonade stand! We took an old table and cardboard and crafted up this station that was not only functional but FUN for the kiddos to play! Plus, we had Lucy actually come to the party - who entertained the guests with stories, dance parties, and participated in our pinata!

Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without a bunch of takeaways for the kiddie guests. We had mailboxes to fill with our sweet station snacks and Peanuts coloring books all wrapped up for Ava’s friends to take home!

We had the BEST time designing and coordinating this Peanuts Party for our precious Ava and her adorable family! We are already planning for her baby sister Kaia’s 1st b-day, coming soon!
